Manicure Must: Nubar 2010

For the sake of this post, I'm actually going to highlight three manicures.  The common denominator is the top coat of Nubar 2010.  This color is absolutely incredibly  GORGEOUS. Right?

This manicure is two coats of Orly Charged Up, and two coats of Nubar 2010. And I seriously can't stop staring at it.  Don't you agree?

I think it looks like I'm wearing nail strips! Nubar 2010 is a flakey rather than a glitter due to the size of the particles in it.  They're the size of flakes, not glitter.  Self explanatory, right?

Up next, a celebration of nubbies!

As you can see in my last manicure post, my nails had gotten really long.  Well, every time I painted them (daily) I was waiting for one to break.  My nails aren't the strongest, and when they get long, they break. Boo hoo, I know.  So, which nail went first you ask? My thumbs of course.  As usual, a small break in the side appeared, and eventually I broke down and trimmed, well ripped off the nail.

Of course I could have just left my finger nails long with short thumbs (it totally makes using my Blackberry SO much easier!), I was my anal self and trimmed them all down to nubs.  Well almost nubs. This manicure is OPI Samoan Sand, with an accent nail of Nubar 2010.

Next up is my sister Re's manicure.  I got to spend the weekend with her, and of course I had to do her nails! Lyn is a grad student full time with clinicals 35 hours a week, so she needs to be pampered.  She's finishing up her MSW with an emphasis on Military social work.  Stop by her blogs: Social Work Confessions and Sweet Reigh's Furbabies

A new trend in the fashion world is the half-moon manicure, or aka the reverse french manicure. It's pretty awesome, isn't it? I had actually given Re a half-moon manicure in bright yellow and pink earlier in the weekend, but did this one the night she left.

I apologized already to Lyn, but I will apologize to my readers for the lack of clean-up on her nails.  We were too busy talking.

This manicure is 2 coats of Zoya Laurie, 1 coat of Zoya Shawn, and 2 coats of Nubar 2010.  To achieve this manicure, take a binder reinforcement and apply to your nails like so:

And well, the rest of the steps are there too.  Photo courtesy of The Beauty Department. The neat thing about this manicure is you can use ANY colors.  And it looks amazing.

I purchased Nubar 2010 on ebay BTW.
