I found this manicure inspiration on Pinterest awhile back, and was excited to finally implement it. Here's the original manicure:

I purchased 2 nail polish (markers/pens) the other day and am excited to see the designs I can come up with. I bought black to recreate an Aztec manicure and silver to create stripes.
I have become very obsessed with the accent nail (if you haven't noticed,) and I love this idea of a second accent nail.
I picked up these Nail Designs by Kiss at CVS in a few patterns, with Bodysuit (shown) being my favorite. They are supposed to last up to 10 days, I just removed the manicure after a day to change it to match the dress I wore to my niece's graduation.
Application is very easy, and went on within a matter of seconds. If you look closely you can see it's slightly too small for my nail, but I tend to paint my nail polish with a gap before my cuticles anyway. Once applied, it's exactly like you're wearing nail polish, just WAY more snazzy!
I used {2} coats of Zoya 'Ali', {2} coats of Orly 'Dazzle', and one Bodysuit strip on each hand.
Zoya 'Ali' is a beautiful bright watermelon pink, which the camera doesn't accurately catch. It's almost neon in its brightness, and I'm ashamed to say it's been sitting on my untried shelf for months. I picked it up on Ulta clearance for $3.99 and will be bring it out more now that it's summer.
I chose 'Ali' because if you look closely at the strip, there is some pink in the nail print design, which perfectly matches 'Ali.'

It's so funny how nail polish, especially neons, can throw off a camera so much!
The picture on the left is actually the most accurate, with Zoya 'Ali' being a little more on orange-pink side.
So, what do you think of the new 2-nail accent trend, is that something you'd recreate?
Head over to JustLove.ly and Glitter & Gloss to see some more manicures, guaranteed to make a Monday more bearable!

Very cool! Too funny, I pinned that same chevron/pink mani and am obsessed with trying it! I actually just ordered this from Etsy a few days ago to help with the chevron: http://www.etsy.com/listing/95084893/1-sheet-of-44-chevron-nail-decals-you Hope that helps! I plan on trying the mani soon!
ReplyDeleteI just jumped on the accent nail train but I think I like the 2 nail trend better than just one - for whatever reason it just seems more finished than the single nail. I love the chevron manicure but your leopard is great!
ReplyDeleteI love your mani this week! So fun! I also love the chevron stripes from the pinterest pin. I am addicted to chevron!
ReplyDeleteLOVE this idea! I like yours better than the chevrons ;)
ReplyDeleteToo cute! I love both of those options. (:

ReplyDeleteLove the chevron! I used striping tape to make my chevron manicure a few months back, but using a pen would probably be a lot easier!

ReplyDeleteLOVE!!! I have seen some kiss strips (the neon zebra) that I wanted to try but wasn't sure how they compare to the Sally hansen's. Love the mix!!
ReplyDeleteI totally love the chevron with pink and gold/silver. I don't know how anyone could do that by hand. Wow! But I actually love how you recreated the look.

This is gorgeous! Great reinterpretation of the inspiration pic, I love how this came out! :)
ReplyDeleteI love the use of the nail design strips as an accent... it's a nice way to use them without wasting money, I feel like they can be pricey sometimes. I love the Zoya color too... I am getting more and more into neons.
ReplyDeleteLOVE seeing my nails on other blogs as inspiration!!! Just saw this and my new gels this time are leopard! Hahaha! Still sticking with the two accent nails!! Although, as I wrote on my blog, I think I should have tried 3! I wanted a leopard thumb also. Next time!!
