#ManicureMonday: Reverse French Manicure

The other day while looking through pictures on my iPad, I came across this picture from Thanksgiving:

I had seen this idea of a reverse French Manicure floating around Pinterest and MUA, and wanted to try it myself.  I posted this picture on instagram and Twitter, and it was a huge success.  Only I forgot to blog about it.

I couldn't for the life of me find anymore pictures of this manicure even though I know I took them, so I decided to reenact the manicure in more spring/summer appropriate colors.

This is one coat of Orly 'Dazzle' and two coats freehand of Zoya 'Phoebe.'  I picked up Phoebe for $3.99 at Ulta last fall from their summer clearance.

The original manicure had a matte finish for the color coat, but I wanted to see what it looked like with a shiny top coat, so I applied one coat:

I did this manicure freehand, but you can use french manicure stickers/guides, applying them once the silver (or other color you apply first dries.)

Which do you like better, the matte coat or the shiny coat?

  1. I LOVE this!!! The silver is the perfect accent and I love the blue. How'd you get it so straight?

  2. oooh!! I LOVE this mani too!! I was going to do this last fall when my gel mani was growing out BUT as soon as I clipped my nails all the gel came off!!

  3. I bought Essie No Place Like Chrome & Loreal Jet Set to Paris last night to try to duplicate this :)
