Office Inspiration: Desk

{via}

Now that I will be working from home, it's time to make myself a grown-up office.  I should say that it's not like my office isn't a grown up office now, I just want the place I will be spending 8-10 hours a day to be amazing.  I have the opportunity to pick the decoration in my working office- I mean think about it, how cool is that?!? My last office was horribly dated, had seriously mold and insect problems, and had these tacky, 4-5 foot tall posters with models pretending to be happy job-seekers.

First and foremost, my desk.  Even with the lights my husband put in, my desk just won't cut it. The main problem with my desk as you can see from the picture is the size, mainly the depth. I had a general idea of what I wanted in a desk, and set out looking.

I had settled on the Parsons desk from West Elm, but wasn't in love with the $349 pricetag.

This past Friday I decided to check out Craig's List for the heck of it and found this beauty:

I had intended on painting it white, but the top is inlaid and absolutely a work of art, and decided against it. The only problem is I now have to change my entire planogramm for my office, including the paint color.

For now, here are some snapshots of inspiration for my new office, focusing primarily on pink & gold:

What do you think so far?

  1. Glad you decided against painting the table, it's just too gorgeous to cover up. I think it's going to look amazing and can't wait to see the end result!

  2. I am in love with your inspirations. I want an office like that. White and pink and gold... Unfortunately my office is just a corner of the guest bedroom and I mainly work from my bed on my laptop at night. Someday I will have a fabulous office (like Cupcakes & Cashmere type office). I do love my desk, so that is a start!
    Your new desk is fabulous looking! Mine was a vanity of sorts that I turned into a desk. I just love reworking old pieces. Glad you decided not to paint it. It is beautiful as is! Can't wait to see the office progress!

  7. I am in love with your office inspiration - especially the photo with the lavender chair! I love the Parson's Desk - it's incredible! But the price tag is a little insane! So jealous that you are working from home!

  8. I am LOVING this, and I think the gold and pink color scheme is so great! :) I'm also totally nabbing that "I love you, blogs and coffee" print -- genius.

  9. I used some of our wedding money to order a new desk to make myself a real office- one that actually inspires me rather than just being a desk. And I bought a white desk- so now all of these are totally inspiring me!!
